A 5 day session of Specialized Training for e-governance Programme (STeP) offered by National Institute for Smart Government, Hyderabad and Govt. of MP was held at Jagran Institute of Communication and Management, Bhopal.

STeP is a programme in pursuance of the mandate given by Department of Information Technology (DIT), Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, Government of India (GoI), to develop human capacities by imparting training to officers from Central and State/UT Government departments. STeP is one of the key components under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) Capacity Building Scheme in India.

NISG, a not-for-profit company incorporated in 2002, is committed to facilitate application of public and private resources to e-Governance in the areas of Strategic Planning, Project Consulting, Capacity Building, Research and Innovation. Taking into account NISG’s experience in e-Governance, and capacity building, the Department of Information Technology, Government of India entrusted NISG as the implementing agency to manage the STeP initiative.

The main objectives of this programme are

  • To accelerate implementation of the NeGP
  • To pave way for effective implementation of e-Governance in the Country for the benefit of all stakeholders
  • To develop competencies and skills in specialized areas of e-Governance on an on-going basis for the personnel working in Government
  • To equip Government officials with the necessary tools for conceptualizing, developing, implementing and management of e-Governance projects
  • To leverage the existing institutional mechanism and expertise working in e-Governance for knowledgesharing

Mr R. Bhaskar, Director NISG said,” It was great pleasure to be in the campus for a week in connection with a training programme conducted by NISG. The campus is excellent. Facilitates are very good, the reception and support from the staff is amazing. I wish I could visit to this place once again.  All the best ”

The Director of the college Dr. Manish Verma said, “We are happy to have this kind of training program in our campus and we would give our full support to such initiatives. The program guided us to gain knowledge of how e-governance could be of help to the system as a whole”

This program has further enhanced the technology base and would eventually help the system to grow by taking it into regular practice. SteP and NISG in an association would bring about some change and the support from institutes like JICM would help them spread the message in a better capacity.
